Quantum Mechanics for the Working Professional
Introducing our open access course!
Learn Quantum Mechanics in an informal setting, one idea at a time.
Howdy!
You are receiving this email because either (a) you have registered for the Pasayten Institute’s free course, “Quantum Mechanics for the Working Professional” or (b) you’re already subscribed to our newsletter Physics!
In either case, we’re excited to have you! (but if you’re soooo not into this, please scroll to the end…)
This is a welcome letter. We’re officially starting today! Here are the details:
How does it work?
We share short lessons a couple times a week.
Each lesson covers one main idea, with exercises to try!
Each post is published in written, audio and video format.
We’ll revisit topics periodically with different levels of precision.
We’ll also reboot the old discord server in the near future, so watch for that!

How does this differ from previous courses?
We’ve experimented a lot. We’ve gone through your feedback. We’ve looked for the holes in “standard” approach to physics education. We’ve settled on this quasi-episodic approach.
It seems that many working people don’t have time to consume more than one idea at time. Also, bookmarking individual pieces can be really helpful to relearn a specific idea.
Finally, we’re looking to support folks with a variety of backgrounds. This approach gives us more agility to treat a broader range of topics. The quasi-episodic approach will allow us to fill in gaps with background material - as well as treat some advanced topics - without losing the narrative.
In short, we’ve modeled our approach to reflect how we consume information online!
The Upcoming Schedule
June 2 : hc and The Scales of Quantum Phenomena
June 7 : Light in a Box
June 10 : Photon Transitions in Hydrogen

Why is this Free?
The mission of the Pasayten Institute is to build and share physics knowledge without barriers. It’s just what we do.
Not into Emails on Quantum Mechanics?
Apologies! We’re still trying to navigate the Substack ecosystem! We made every attempt to only sign those folks up who opted in, but as with any human user working with software and spreadsheets, we’re bound to make a few mistakes.
